Gotham City Impostors DLC
The game was Gotham City Imposters and I was extremely excited to download and start working on the achievements. I installed it and played through the tutorial and then tried to enter matchmaking. There wasn’t a single game to connect to or a single person even in the lobby. I sat in matchmaking for several hours thinking it was just the servers or my connection and then found out from the GCI website that GFWL version is no longer being supported. Why is a game that can’t be played on the very first page of PC Games??? I might have just thrown my money away and saved myself the headache. I feel like I have been deceived and even ripped off.

Score Distribution 9. PC Gamer. Duncan Geere — Apr 06, In short, there’s little way for a community to form around the game — and unless that’s rectified, then there’s little long-term hope for Gotham City Imposters. Which is a shame, because it’s fun.
Gotham City Impostors is rolling out its first free DLC pack today, which released on Xbox Live, and should be hitting PlayStation 3 and PC soon. In addition to the new loot, the update adds matchmaking fixes, and lets you.
First-person shooter Gotham City Impostors was released. I should love this. It sounded so silly, so camp , how could I not be slapping my thighs while smiling knowingly at the monitor? On one hand it offers a range customisations for you to trim the fat from the character, or add to it if you want a tougher head to deflect the bullets. It doles both out in the smallest possible increments as you play. Making your character look like the sort of bad-ass Joker or Batman is hatefully boring.
A slog. Despite both teams being equally matched in terms of weapons and body-types, you spend the dress-up money separately as well. Oh god, getting into Gotham is atrocious. But at least was in. Game modes and maps also feel like teasers for upcoming DLC drops and map-packs.

You spin around and aim your weapon upwards, trying to catch a glimpse of the menace Spotting a nearby trampoline and bouncing off of it far into the air, you pull out a grappling hook at the apex and shoot it towards a distant building. Zooming across the sky you spot your prey, running along a nearby roof, and you disengage your hook and drop down behind him.
You pull a jack-in-the-box out of your pocket and throw it at him, cackling madly as it explodes in a direct hit and the screen tells you how many experience points you just earned from his death. First note the title, however- you’re not playing Batman, the Joker, or anyone sanctioned by either character. Or something.

It’s a downloadable first-person shooter set in the Batman universe, but it doesn’t feature the Dark Knight who, of course, is a hero who doesn’t believe in guns. I’ve spent a few days with Gotham City Impostors, and while I enjoy the game, I don’t know why it exists. Who was asking for this mash-up? Gotham City Impostors is a functional shooter with a sense of humor and a Batman license. It’s got plenty to unlock, but it’s not all that deep. Go, shoot, win. Over and over. If you’re looking for a first-person shooter that doesn’t take itself seriously, have at it, but don’t expect a FPS revolution.

When the Bat’s away Read Review. Gotham City Impostors is a multiplayer game unlike any other, giving players the opportunity to rebel against conformity as they customise their own characters. Posing as amateur vigilantes or villains, gamers will create their very own Bats and Jokerz characters using unprecedented customisation options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons.
The game features maps and modes inspired by DC Comics’ Batman license. I like my Batman like I like my coffee: dark. Hell, I even think Robin is a travesty — the campy tone of a Boy Wonder just clashes with a borderline sociopath vigilante. So a game about a bunch of wannabe Bats and Jokerz dressed up in ridiculous, cartoonish costumes and doing battle in an over-the-top shooter had me somewhat skeptical to begin with, and our two-star review of the original paid version did nothing to assuage my cynicism.
I admit it, I wasn’t expecting much from Gotham City Imposters. Then I actually played it. I don’t think Gotham City Impostors got a fair shake. It’s a perfectly competent and enjoyable class-based shooter that I’ve had nothing but a good time with.

Egregious DRM and poor matchmaking mar an otherwise surprisingly fun and accessible multiplayer shooter. He’d be laughed out of the office. There’s a formula for making a movie blockbuster. Games are different. In the world of games, it’s entirely possible for someone to walk into an important person’s office, pitch ‘Batman on rollerskates’ and walk out with a signed contract. Gotham City Impostors is the result this pitch.
The gadget-enabled shooter at the heart of Gotham City Impostors is fun, Player A: “Who invented this f***ing matchmaking?” It eventually works, most of the time, though since launch the servers (on PC) have been quiet.
You can, for example, soar in the air and then launch yourself at a person to damage or kill them. I bought it yesterday and am enjoying it. I do not have any experience with TF2, but have played lots of Call of Duty and Bioshock 2 to compare. I really enjoy the emphasis on using height, with all of the different toys you can use to obtain it, from the glider allowing you to soar ahead and dive on your opponents, to spring shoes allowing you to jump or double jump from about anywhere.
The weapons and most of the upgrades are fairly run-of-the-mill with a few nice twists in there, like my gun mod that points out nearby enemies via smell stink clouds appear where they are, even if they are behind corners. One of the big strikes against the game right now is the lack of variety of game play. There is definitely room for more, although too many may dilute what could end up being a small pool of players.

Skip to Content. Based on DC Comics characters, this cartoon shooter is a tale of good versus evil. But combat is the name of the game — with lots of weapons, explosives, and other gadgets used to destroy the other team –so it doesn’t have a very positive message. Plus, gamers can play as the good guys or the bad guys. One team has people dressed as Batman, who is a positive role model for the most part, but the other team has people dressed as the malevolent The Joker.
First-person shooter Gotham City Impostors was released. I’ve spent a few days I agree though, p2p matchmaking on pc is never good. Prime.
Tuesday i’ve spent about 20 minutes in pre-match lobby with some Asian dude and -probably- Seananners. I got it the night it came out I couldn’t get into a game for the life of me. Later that day and yesterday it was a lot better. I’m hoping it’s just a matter of nobody playing it. That being said it doesn’t seem to be very good at balancing teams whenever I do manage to get into a game.
Yeah, I’m having trouble getting matches on Steam too, but when I do it’s against people of high levels. So someone can play this game for sure. Tempted to go for a refund though, it’s beyond acceptable to release a game that straight up can’t be played. I played a bunch on Xbox last night and there were times when I would finish a match and then jump to a new lobby to play with a differrent group, and it would take 10 seconds to find a game.
